Bill Crawford - Secretary

Informations diverses

William (Bill) Crawford, Yarmouth, is the former president of the Handicapped Organization Promoting Equality (HOPE) agency (Yarmouth) and former representative for Nova Scotia's League for Equal Opportunities to the Council of Canadians with Disabilities.

Bill’s participation in the Disabled Persons Commission was a real-life example of the theme for the original 2004 International Day of Disabled Persons – “Nothing About Us Without Us”. This is an indication of Bill's long-term commitment to volunteer boards and the community of Yarmouth and Greenville.

His priority was and remains to champion the cause of inclusive transportation within rural parts of Nova Scotia. Bill was a member of the Disabled Persons Commission of Nova Scotia for many years, where his hope of long-time accessible transportation was made possible for the town and community of Yarmouth.

Although Bill is now on the Southwest Employment Services Board of Directors, he still sees the need to champion accessibility in transportation and employment for persons with disabilities as his main reason for participating in this organization.

Bill sees these as inroads to an essential part of accessibility - to employment, recreation, and other opportunities - for our clients and employers from across the province.
