Juanita Bruneau - Vice Chairperson

Juanita Bruneau is the vice-chairperson of the Southwest Employment Services (SES) Board and has been on the board for seven years. In addition to being a SES Board member, she has been the executive director of the Yarmouth County Learning Network since 2015. She is a life-long learner and promotes continuous learning. She is a strong advocate for literacy, numeracy, and adult upgrading, particularly for adults who do not have a high school diploma or GED.

She was born in Halifax, NS but spent the majority of her life in Calgary, Alberta. She graduated from high school in Calgary and pursued her post-secondary education at the University of Calgary and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), ultimately focusing on business administration, IT, and system administration. She has held a variety of roles including IT instructor, system administrator, project manager, office manager, as well as variety of administrative positions.

She moved to the Yarmouth area in 2007 and is a strong community supporter. She is and has been a volunteer member on several non-profit boards. In addition to being vice-chairperson on the SES Board, Juanita is chair of the Literacy Nova Scotia, past-chair of the Tri-County Women’s Centre Board, past-secretary of the Seafood and Wine Extravaganza Board, and as well as being a member, she was the volunteer coordinator for the 2017 Mixed Curling Championship held in Yarmouth. In addition to these boards, Juanita is or has been a member of employment related boards, and volunteers for a variety of community events.

She appreciates the opportunity to be a member of the Southwest Employment Board, and supporting the SES mission, “Our mission is to provide pathways to meaningful, inclusive employment for all. We do this by helping job seekers navigate the job market and by helping employers meet their human resource needs.”
