Bruce Johnson - Chairperson

When Bruce Johnson (BScPH’74) decided to attend the Dalhousie College of Pharmacy more than 40 years ago, he didn’t realize he’d be making history as the first Black Nova Scotian to graduate from the College in the province.

A long and successful career has followed Bruce. Today, he is a pharmacist and a partner with PharmaChoice City Drug in Yarmouth, and he is well-known for helping others. Bruce was the first Chairperson of the now-merged, Black Employment Partnership committee.

He has served as Chairperson on the board of Southwest Employment Services since 2016. As an employer and community member, he looks forward to always serving the community in some capacity and feels his greatest strength is giving back to the community.

Bruce has served as chair of the Yarmouth CBDC, chairperson of the Yarmouth Regional Housing Authority, past chairperson of the Yarmouth Boys and Girls Club, and many other voluntary committees.
